What is a Safari Lodge?
A special accommodation that is closer to nature, but at the same time blessed with all comforts of modern homes. The idea comes from Africa, where during safaris, guests are accommodated in similar places in the savannas.
Is it actually a camping tent?
No, it's completely different! Imagine a place with a bathroom, kitchen, dining room and comfortable beds, where the living room offers a view of the endless forest and the pasture of our deer through huge panoramic windows. The living room has a large screen TV, bluetooth sound system, and a hot tub on the huge terrace. The pleasant temperature inside is provided by underfloor heating and air conditioning. At our Safari Lodges, as at other accommodations, we are in an enclosed space, yet it feels like sleeping outside in nature without compromise. We can feel the fresh scents of the forest, we can wake up to the sound of the endless echoes of the forest birds, we can have breakfast with the deer living here, we can splash in the hot whirlpool, we can watch the stars from the terrace in the evening. Away from traffic, noise and crowds, in a wonderful natural setting. You don't have to rely entirely on your imagination, we try to show this in the pictures below! :)
How many guests it can accomodate?
Each of our Safari Lodge accommodation has 3 sleeping areas and can accommodate 3 x 2 people, for a total of 6 people. We have three types of Safari Lodge, a basic and a Boutique and Premium Safari Lodge, which both have underfloor heating and a private hot tub.
What is the difference between the 3 types of Safari Lodges?
Nothing in terms of experience and view! :) Each of our Safari Lodge accommodation has a panoramic view and a large terrace overlooking the forest and our fallow deer area. They are air conditioned and have a private kitchen and bathroom with a large-screen TV. Additional facilities at the Premium and Boutique Safari Lodge include a private hot tub and underfloor heating. Boutiqe Safari Lodge has a private hot tub on the terrace, making it the most comfortable and largest Safari Lodge.

The location itself, Örvényeshegy, is located on the outskirts of Zalacsány, a quarter of an hour from Hévíz and twenty minutes from Lake Balaton. – What is a Safari Lodge?
– This is an African idea, such accommodations are used on safaris. Inside the building there is a kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom, the accommodation is equipped with all the comforts that make a vacation close to nature a real luxury.
Our safari accommodation also has air conditioning, WIFI, fully built-in Bluetooth compatible sound technology, and UHD Smart TV. In addition to the fact that we can truly have breakfast in the soft lap of nature, while crickets chirp or wake up to the chirping of birds, we don't have to give up on technical achievements either.
The lodge's terraces offer a view of the Örvényes stream valley, the pasture of our fallow deer and the forest towering behind it, but we can also watch our favorite series or answer emails while sitting on the terrace.
– Have you thought about making the safari accommodation TV-free?
– No. Since we live in the 21st century, TV and mobile phones are a daily necessity for most families. If someone doesn't want to give up this, they can use it at our place, but if a guest wants to relax without a TV, they won't turn on the device.

– Who is this type of accommodation recommended for?
– This type of accommodation was primarily designed for families, but we have also had several business travelers. For them, it is a special treat to relax here after a stressful day at work. Our safari accommodation has 3 bedrooms and can accommodate 6 people comfortably. We have a fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, so you can even cook. Of course, the doors and windows are equipped with mosquito nets so that insects do not disturb our rest.
– Have you ever vacationed in a safari lodge like this before?
– In recent years, we have had the opportunity to try it out with our children several times, and since then we have wanted to show this experience to our children at the Pálos Resort. The children have been asking us to go on vacation to a place like this. We saw this accommodation in the Netherlands, then we tried it for the first time in Croatia, but in winter we also found operating, heated safari lodges in Slovenia. This relaxing experience gave us more than a hotel vacation.
– Does the structure hold up in rain, storms, and winter?
– Of course. There have been several big storms in the past few days, and this accommodation doesn’t get wet similarily stone buildings, the fixings are adequate. In fact, according to our guests’ feedback, you can sleep better here than in a traditional, stone house.
– How is that possible?
– Here we are literally in nature, there are no thick walls, we can really hear the sounds of the forest and fields, it’s calming and relaxing. When we sit on the terrace in the evening, we can see the deer behind the fence, it’s a very special experience.
– How did you come up with the idea of having your own deer?
– We had a huge meadow, and it would have been nice to have animals populate it. At first, we thought about a lavender farm, said Niki.
– Tamás’s father is a hunter, it was his idea to keep fallow deer, this area with its forest and bushy parts is an excellent habitat for them. They are shy but curious animals. They really like apples, we feed them with them in the evenings, at which time they venture closer and eat directly from our hands.
– How many days do guests spend with you on average?
– Most of our guests stay for three to four nights. Our breakfast consists of local artisanal products, salamis, vegetables, freshly baked bread, and jams. The silence of the countryside, the quality of our accomodations attract a certain group of guests, who consciously seek this type of countryside relaxation.
– Is the dominance of wellness holidays starting to end?
– Yes, I think there is a group of guests who are looking for real relaxation and silence during their holiday instead of the diversity of wellness hotels. We are close to Lake Balaton, the wellness and medical services of Kehida, Hévíz, and Zalakaros are also accessible within a quarter of an hour, and you can even combine the two types of relaxation with us. During the day, our guests can enjoy wellness at a nearby spa, but in the evening, they can relax in a more peaceful environment.
– If we want to take part in programs in addition to relaxation and silence, what do you offer?
– We can offer guests entertainment options from the nearby Zala Springs golf course to Lake Balaton. When booking, you will see the program recommendation electronically and here at the Safari Lodge, printed out, which groups the attractions by distance within a radius of about 60 km. This is a 50-page document that our guests can choose from.
We can offer a lot of things, from spas to cycling trips, beaches, and horseback riding. The advantage of our resort is that it is not located in the busy town center, but everything is accessible within 10-20 minutes thanks to the very good infrastructure.
Those guests who enter this environment, in addition to tranquility, also require additional programs. They love experiences close to nature, local artisanal products and they also like to get to know the area. The place for real relaxation, family relaxation is shifting towards the rural lifestyle.
– How did you fit the safari accommodation into this village hospitality?
– We are not presenting the literal classic village accommodation, we do not have grazing cows or hens in the yard, but in return you can admire the fallow deer grazing on the edge of the forest. Perhaps I would say that we are a 21st century rural accommodation, offering a service close to nature, but studded with technical achievements and luxurious comfort elements, to city guests.
